Description | This unusual old design came from a pine fire board found in a small town near Utica, New York. These fireboards were used to seal fireplace openings during the summer months. To give them decorating interest, they were often covered with distinguished wallpapers.
The bottom layer of three old papers on this fireboard was the "Mohawk." Its river scene, with old world flavor and graceful frame, gives the wall patterned interest. Yet the design is so well proportioned that the effect is one of light spacious vistas, effective in settings large or small. |
