Description | The walls of the historic Buckman Tavern in Lexington, Massachusetts, were graced by the original of this pattern. We are told that it was hung about 1800. Only small fragments of the old paper were intact, but by carefully placing them together, an almost perfect reproduction was made. This tavern was built in 1703 and is located on Hancock Street along which Paul Revere made his historic ride from Charlestown to Lexington in 1775. After the battle ont he Common was over, some of the wounded were brought into the tavern, doubtless into the very room where this paper was later used. |
