Description | A farmhouse in the community of Westwood, Massachusetts, about ten miles outside of Boston, was the source of this quaint paper. It is known to be about one hundred and sixty years old which indicates that it might have been made by John Welsh, first wallpaper manufacturer to locate in Boston. He opened a factory in Scott's Court in 1786. Other early manufacturers in Boston who might have produced this Early American paper are Joseph Hovey, 1788, Prentis & May, 1790, and Ebenezer Clough, 1795. |
