| Description | This pattern was reproduced from a paper found under some paneling in the Varrell House at York Harbor, Maine. The paneling had been on the house for more than eighty years and we are told that the wallpaper underneath it was more tahn one hundred years old. The repeat of the original was too long to be reproduced by machine, and the arrangement had to be slightly changed. However, the effect remains the same. Rufus Varrell Jr. was the first owner of the Varrell House. About fifty years ago it was enlarged and has been a popular resort inn. |
